You have just been hired to consult with a new client organization. This organization is similar to others for whom you have served in an HRM consulting role and experiences many of the same problems and situations that the other organizations have had. You have a wealth of knowledge about other organizations’ HRM strategies. Describe your approach to this new client in terms of relying upon knowledge you have gained working with other similar situations.


Write a (2-3) page paper in which you:


  1. Identify the areas of overlap in the new client organization with others that you have had as clients. If you have limited experience with these types of problems, be sure to research common issues to complete this question.

  2. Explain the ethical dilemma(s) that may arise if you use your expert knowledge of other organizational HRM strategies with the new client.

  3. Discuss your approach to customizing HRM strategy to business strategies.

  4. Emphasize the importance of establishing HRM strategies to improve a competitive advantage.

Develop a job / task analysis for one (1) of the following positions:


  • First-level clerk in a personnel office in a branch of the military

  • An entry-level job in a customer service call center

  • A retail sales clerk in a specialty paint store

 


Prepare a  (2-3) page analysis in which you:


  1. Locate several job descriptions that apply to the position you have selected from the list above.

  2. Compare the common tasks and behavioral objectives contained within the job descriptions or lists of duties.

  3. Create a customized job / task analysis using the information you have found.

  4. Describe the organizational situation that will benefit from this type of job / task analysis.

  5. Identify opportunities for appropriate training to support this job and its corresponding tasks.

Research the employment laws in your state by visiting (your two-letter state designation).gov. (for example, az.gov; mi.gov.; or va.gov.). Insert “employment laws” into the Search area of the Website and review the different designations of employment laws that are listed.


 


Select one (1) of the following HRM strategy problems and apply the employment laws of your state to this problem.


  • The need for seasonal employees who may be from another country

  • Benefits decreases for the entire employee population

  • Disciplinary action training for supervisors of diverse employees

  • Introduction of new technology for employees who may experience physical limitations 
Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:

  1. Describe the scenario that you have selected and its corresponding employment laws.

  2. Recommend a plan to manage the HRM situation within the confines of the law.

  3. Justify your approach to your scenario to HR management.

  4. State how a competitive advantage may be gained by ensuring HRM practices meet the necessary employment laws.

  5. Speculate what might happen if the situation was not handled in accordance with the appropriate employment laws.

The company at which you work has given you free rein to design an entire realm of talent management policies and procedures that include performance, retention, labor relations, compensation, and benefits recommendations. Your goal is to design a state-of-the-art HRM strategy with corresponding suggestions for how to put this into practice. Once it is formulated, you will present the program to your upper management.


 


Create a presentation in a common format (PowerPoint or a similar program) with a minimum of  (20) slides and corresponding speaker notes in which you:


 


  1. Describe the type of organization for which you are designing the HRM program.

  2. Create an HRM strategy outline that will support your proposal.

  3. Address each of the criteria (performance, retention, labor relations, compensation, and benefits) with a proposed policy and procedure.

  4. Justify each of your HRM selections by aligning it with your HRM strategy.

  5. Support your premises with data you have collected from three (3) similar organizations in order to convince your upper management that you have prepared well and your plan should be adopted.
